Health and Safety
For Computers :
Take care of your eyes - cover your eyes briefly will give them a break from the light.
Occasionally shift your eyes to an object that is in the distant making sure that you hold your focus for a moment and then return to the computer screen. Repeat this at least three times every hour.
Take a Break - Take short breaks every two hours and try to concentrate on something that focuses your attention away from the screen.
Good posture - Make sure that your spine and head are kept upright.
Make sure that the top of the screen is at your eye level.
Lino Cutting:
Always cut away from your body.
Never leave a cutting tool lying around.
When printing wear an apron.
When printing put newspaper on the tables.
When finished printing make sure to tidy up and wash up all of the equipment used.

Bat Signal
This I had been created in Adobe Illustrator

I started off by creating a circle.
Then I created the light beam for the signal with the pen tool. I then coloured in circle with a light grey to look like the top.
For the light beam I chose to use a gradient colour so it faded out at the bottom to look like the actual signal.
the last thing i had to do was make the batman logo shape this I done by using one of my drawings of the logo and then tracing it over with the pen tool.
Exhibition Space
The Backgrounds - Final Pieces

I then copied them as combined and then pasted it on top of the other ones but slightly to the right so you could see both sets.

I then once again added another layer of the text but even further apart. This has started to look like how I wanted, but felt that it was missing one thing.
what I did was to add one final line onto the middle, this ended up balancing the whole piece out.I had then managed to achieve the text look that I wanted.
For the next background, I chose to have the bats, these have also been create in Adobe Illustrator what i did was to simply draw a shape of a bat.
Then using the same shape I started copy and pasting them over the top of each other so I could make it start to look like bats coming out of a cave.

This then built up like this so when i fill it with colour some of them will be blended together to cause a black mass.

The next thing I did was to add a few more bats that where separate from the others so that it looked like they where flying of into the sky.

By adding the fill you can see already that it is starting to look better than just having the outlined version.
Due to the rough outline at the bottom on the previous one i decided to make a box and fill in in black so that bats then look like they are gradually flying up and away from each other. Here shows the end colour I choose for my second poster.
But there had also been some other options shown below.

Experimental Pieces - Final Major Project

To do this i simply opened the image up in Photoshop and then used the quite selection tool and highlighted the areas that I wanted, then went to select, Inverse and then backspace it left me with this.
Once I placed my image i had to make sure that it fitted all the way over the batman silhouette then in the tool bar section i went over to the drop box and chose the option 'Screen' and it turned out like this. I was not happy with the way this looked because you couldn't see the nice reflection on the face and didn't want to just end up using one image in my final piece.
From just using the eraser tool i removed all of the part of images that i didn't feel i wanted to keep. i then added the next two images in the same way as the first one, erased all of the parts i didn't want and then pieced it together so they almost look like one image. The last thing that i had to add was the clouds on the main face so that it all ended up looking like one image.

Final Major Project - Brief
The end of year show is an opportunity to showcase artwork that reflects our own personal style and the best of our abilities; to be able to inspire others. It will be a progressional exhibition, so within this project we will also have to consider presentation methods as this can make a major contribution to the overall effectiveness of the work.
Our self-initated brief also has to show careful planning, by producing a detailed proposal and a week - by - week planner.
There are four key stages to to the FMP project: investigation, planning, creation and evaluation. the body of work we will produce must show our creative journey, innovative thinking and a personal visual language.

Ellen Jewett, Mr Finch and Anna-Will Highfield
I have choose to look at both of these artists together because they both create multi-disiplinary art pieces. Ellen Jewett creates these almost mythical medium scale sculptures that are made up of polymer clay, acrylic paint, metal, cold poclain and oil. Where as Mr Finch creates fabric and wire sculptures of mostly animals such as butterflies.
The similarities they have are that they both use wire and their main subject is animals. Mr Finch's main body for the piece is the fabric and exposed wire, Ellen Jewett doesnt tend to have the wire exposed.
Another artist that creates animal sculptures is Anna-Will Highfield, her sculptures are made from paper and some are at the same scale as the real animal. Her pieces are similar to mine because of the subject and the fact that they are 3D. I really like these pieces as they have a rough finish to them , from just looking at them at first you wouldn't guess that they are made of paper.
